A Deep Dive into the Student Affairs 1st Round Interview

The first round interview for student affairs professionals can be incredibly scary. You’ve spent weeks or even months sending out applications.  But now your hard work has paid off! The search committee has selected YOU for a first round interview!

You’re excited, but anxious. You’ve never been here before. What do you do? How do you prepare yourself?

In A Deep Dive into 1st Round Interviews for Student Affairs Professionals I cover the major topics that most entry level student affairs professionals face in this situation.

Specifically the concerns that you need to address during the first round interview; what you need to logistically prepare for before the interview; as well as the steps you need to take leading up to the interview.

I cover the major two types of first round student affairs interviews: phone interviews and web / video interviews. I then review the major logistical difference between them; how to prepare your room and surroundings; as well as what you can expect from participants.

I then take a deep dive into what you should do and how you should prepare your research to address the different situations that come up during this first round interview.

Finally, I finish up with a summary of what we’ve covered so far as well as takeaways that you can immediately put into practice.

I’ve combined and summarized this information into a short 30 minute course that I’ve published on Skillshare. You can access the course directly here: https://skl.sh/2DAQX3n

Happy interviewing,
